We’re excited to share the innovative update so many of you have been waiting for!

Machbase NEO V8.5 goes beyond faster data storage:

it gives the database engine “eyes” through Black-box and a “brain” through LLMs.

Bring previously disconnected video and sensor data together,

and discover a new way of working—gaining insights through conversation with AI, without complex queries.

Combining video and sensors: Black-Box

When an incident occurs at an industrial site, answering “Why did that alarm go off?” usually means looking back and forth between two sources.

One is a graph of sensor data; the other is CCTV footage.

But their timestamps often do not line up precisely, making it difficult to reconstruct what caused the incident.

Replay the exact moment of an incident

NEO V8.5’s Black-Box feature combines sensor data and video on the same timeline.

  • Real-time matching: When an anomaly is detected, the video for that moment and equipment location is matched automatically.

  • RTSP support: Connect a wide range of external cameras through RTSP for real-time recording and visualization.

  • Sensor fusion: Analyze video, audio, and sensor data together to support everything from ESG incident records to global equipment audits.

[Key features and benefits]

  • Fast installation and integration: Install Black-Box functionality through a single Machbase app and use all features on one database server.

  • Cost efficiency: Use Machbase storage instead of an expensive video server, and build a high-performance system even with low-cost cameras starting at tens of thousands of Korean won.

  • Precise navigation: Cross-search sensor and video data and jump to the desired point in time in under 0.1 seconds. Detailed frame-by-frame analysis is also supported.

  • AI video recognition: Go beyond recording with integrated AI video recognition and alarm management.

Talk to your data: The “LLM chat” AI agent

You no longer need to wrestle with SQL queries to analyze data.

The LLM app in NEO V8.5 shifts data analysis from commands to conversation.

Expert-level reports through natural language

Try saying, “Write a report on the periods when equipment anomalies occurred last week.” The built-in AI agent analyzes manuals and time-series data in the database and immediately generates an HTML report.

[Key features and internal architecture]

  • Flexible choice of LLM: Supports cloud models such as OpenAI’s GPT and Anthropic’s Claude, as well as on-premises models through Ollama, including Qwen3 and GLM-4.6.

  • AI agent—the brain: Understands the user’s question, selects the appropriate tools, such as SQL/TQL execution or timer configuration, and interprets the results.

  • Automatic analysis reports — General: Basic statistical analysis

    • Finance: Candlestick, moving average, and Bollinger Band analysis

    • Diagnostics: Specialized analysis including FFT spectra and RMS

  • Natural-language questions and answers: Ask for a report on last week’s equipment anomalies, and the AI analyzes database manuals and time-series data to produce an HTML report.

Closing thoughts

This update focuses on transforming how data is used, rather than simply adding more features.

  • Combining video and sensors provides visibility into what is happening on site,

  • while LLM-based analysis enables anyone to obtain expert-level insights.

Machbase NEO V8.5 adds perception and intelligence to world-leading time-series database performance. Start making the most of your business data today.
